  • $10,000 retention bonus paid in increments over a six month period after meeting eligibility requirements.

 Truck Delivery Driver Class A CDL-OTR


Objective of the Position:

 

Operates tractor-trailer truck delivery equipment for the BQSR Chicago Logistics, LLC; Safely executes all assigned delivery runs in accordance with company policies; Maintains telephone contact with supervisor or dispatcher for delivery instructions; Transports product, off loads, records and collects proper logs and documentation; Utilizes hand-held device during the delivery process. Ensure tractor-trailer truck operation and equipment adhere to Company procedures and government regulations. The Truck/Delivery Driver should reasonably expect to travel up to 60% of their miles outside of the state of Illinois. Delivery operations are generally conducted in the late afternoons, evenings and nights. The equipment will be domiciled at a BQSR Chicago location in Armour Patch or Lower West Side areas of Chicago, Il.

 

ll. Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Connects trailer to truck and conducts pre-trip, mid-trip and post-trip safety inspection of tires, lights, horn, steering, service brakes, windshield wipers, mirrors and coupling devices. Signs off on inspections in accordance with Federal motor carrier safety regulations.

  • Drives truck to and from specified destinations. Removes empty trays from freezer, cleans freezer and rotates product to ensure old product is used first. Unloads product from trailer and places in freezer. Rotates truck product and reloads empty trays. Completes appropriate paperwork and data entry into hand-held device for documentation from each destination. Ensure store security by activating alarm systems and following individual store safety requirements as required.

  • Remains aware of all customers’ needs and desires; Ensure continued high levels of customer service.

  • Ensure tractor-trailer truck operations adhere to Company procedures and Federal motor carrier regulations. Facilitates the maintenance (preventative, routine, and repair) of all equipment, (tractors, trailers, and hand-held devices) as needed to ensure that resources are available to support all runs. Provides maintenance inputs to supervisor.

  • Records duty status with electronic recording device or paper logs to comply with Federal motor carrier safety regulations.

  • Notifies the Company of breakdowns, accidents or anticipated delays, as soon as possible.

  • Ensure tractor-trailer truck operations adhere to Company procedures and Federal motor carrier regulations.

  • Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned or required.

 

III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED. Class A-Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.

Experience:

 

  • One to three years of tractor trailer truck driving experience and valid "Class A" commercial driver's license.

  • Current DOT physical examination required.

  • Capable of maintaining “Commercial Driver Medical Certification.”

  • Thorough knowledge of dispatch procedures, federal transportation regulations, transportation operation and delivery scheduling.

  • Previous experience in equipment scheduling and maintenance management

  • Previous experience in autonomous operations with remote supervision and reach-back concept of operations.

  • Experience in truck routing software desired.

  • Previous experience in hand-held device delivery methods.

 

Knowledge/Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must have excellent customer service skills/verbal and written communication skills. Good English communication skills (both written and oral).

  • Knowledge of Federal motor carrier safety regulations, duty recording devices, computerized alarm systems, wheeled dollies, rack hooks, map reading and general truck repair.

  • Must possess the highest possible standard of ethics and conduct.

  • Demonstrate good organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills, able to meet deadlines.

  • Take initiative and be self-motivated; looking for opportunities to improve.

 

IV. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Some interstate trips may exceed 40 hours in duration.
  • Heavy lifting. Exposure to inclement weather and cold storage locations.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, push and pull objects over 100 lbs. using carts or dollies. 
  • Must be able to reach, grasp, lift; Able to function in a cold storage environment.
  • Must be able to work in varying and dynamic schedules to meet operational demand and have the ability to meet flexible schedules from time to time.
